GOOD FRIDAY
Jesus asks: Will my death mean anything in two millennia?
Will it give home to those who must flee their country because bombs are falling on their homes?”
Will it give courage to youth who see adults not able to sustain commitments to each other or to their children?”
Will it give comfort to elderly who are put into homes and forgotten by their families and friends?”
Will it give dignity to Indigenous women and men who through systemic racism are given prison sentences when treatment for addictions and trauma would heal their woundedness?”
Will it give wisdom and understanding to those whose anger targets institutions and projects suspicion over protective measures meant for the common good?”
Will it give love to those who are lonely, vulnerable, homeless, hungry, poor and to those who reach out to meet their needs?”
It is what I can give, it is all I can give, to show my love for all time.”
Otherwise how can this day be called Good?
