World Meeting of Families
“The family which experiences the joy of faith communicates it naturally. That family is the salt of the earth and light of the world; it is the leaven of society.”
— Pope Francis, October 27, 2013
Held every three years and sponsored by the Holy See’s Pontifical Council for the Family, the World Meeting of Families is the world’s largest Catholic gathering of families. Each meeting has a theme related to our understanding of family life. This year’s theme is “Love Is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive,” highlighting the impact of the love and life of families today.
The World Meeting of Families will take place September 22-27, 2015, in Philadelphia. It will be open to families and people of all faiths to encourage dialogue and support all families. This year’s meeting is expected to bring together approximately 15,000 delegates from more than 150 nations. The congress will provide delegates the opportunity to share their thoughts and attend daily Mass.
In order to promote Catholic publications dedicated to the family, the Pontifical Council for the Family is organizing events for Catholic publishers during the weeklong congress. The World Meeting of Families will have representation from Novalis, which supports the efforts of the Church and encourages the lives of Catholic families. Publishing Director Joseph Sinasac and National Sales Manager Maria Medeiros will attend a session on the Bible and the family on September 23. They will also be present at the Catholic Publishers Pavilion in the exhibition hall.
